Harry & Stella went to a small dog meetup today. They mingled with their furry friends and they are so tired now. :-)
This video clip was recorded using iVideo Camera on my iPhone 3G. iVideo Camera allows you to record a short video on any iPhone (3G or even 2G with iPhone OS 3.1) just like you could do on iPhone 3GS.

Technical Support:
Friday night, Chris was not in the house when I came home from a facial appointment. Our dogs were loose in the living room and the front door was not locked. It was very strange. It turned out that he got summoned to be tech support for the old Chinese ladies next door - setting up their laptop on the Internet. Our neighbour was on the phone with tech support, but she didn't know enough about computers to understand what he was telling her to do... so she told the tech support guy that she'd get her neighbour to help... and came over. She had a sense of urgency, so he went straight over. Once Chris was on the phone with tech support, the guy said he was looking at Google Street View to see how far away this neighbour was while he waited. :-)
Our neighbour came over again this afternoon asking for help with her computer/Internet. She said "You have time now? Come." It was kind of funny - because I was still in my pj's. She didn't remember how to log in to her new laptop - she typed in the user name and password but didn't know what to do next. I pretty much just pressed the "Enter" key for her and I was a hero! Then, she thought since I was there, I could show her how to log into her Gmail account and how to reply to e-mail messages. Her home page was Google and she'd enter Gmail.com in the search box, but she didn't know how to click the link. I changed her home page to Gmail. After 30 minutes or so, I think she got it. She was taking notes, so I hope her notes will help later. She's also taking a class.
Technology and the Internet bring people closer for sure - we had hardly ever talked to them in the past 10 years or so. We usually just wave hi/bye when we see each other as we leave/enter the garage. Now, we are sure that we are their favourite neighbours on this block! ;-)
Turkey Dinner:
We had a big Thanksgiving dinner last night! Chris spent Saturday night and Sunday cooking - he cooked a juicy 16 lb. turkey, garlic mashed potatoes, Brussels sprouts, fresh cranberry sauce, and crème brûlée with vanilla beans! 6 of us couldn't finish the food. Where was I when Chris was cooking? I was watching Vampire Diaries on the PVR. I still prefer Twilight. :-)
After sparkling wine and Bailey's Irish Cream (mint chocolate flavour Bailey's on the rocks with chocolate shavings on top), somehow, we ended up looking up addresses on Google Street View (hooked my laptop to the big screen TV). Hahaha... strange, eh? ;-) It guess it was because Calgary just went on Street View in the middle of last week. When we looked at our guests' house, it looked like there was somebody in their front window! We were trying to figure out who it was. Too bad we don't have CSI-type photo enhancement capabilities. The party ended past 1 a.m. today.
Photo Shoot:
We had some fun this afternoon. The Traveling Woofburys - Stella (American/vocal) & Harry (British/guitarist/vocal) - totally rocked the house!
Happy Halloween!

We were out in the backyard, enjoying the last bit of nice weather on Sunday. Harry & Stella had a lot of fun chasing each other.

We finally met Shelley & Bob in person today after about 10+ years of friendship over internet! They visited Harry at the show and then came to our house to meet Stella. We had a good time! :-) I totally forgot to take photos!!!

Ellen and Justyn took us to visit puppies this morning. This is the first time we met Stella and her siblings.
In the afternoon, we had a mini high school reunion at Ellen's with Melody, Rebecca, Amy and her three kids. Everyone looks the same - even prettier! We think Amy is slimmer than before she has kids! Rebecca's hubby CAN COOK! Yummy food! Amy's kids had so much fun that they decided to sleep over at Ellen's tonight.

Rally-O people are so nice and supportive. With all the encouragement, Harry and I gave Rally-O another try this weekend. This is our second time in the ring. We were on at 8:30am on both Saturday and Sunday at the Evelyn Kenny Kennel and Obedience Club's show in Springbank Park for All Seasons.
To qualify in Rally-O, a dog and handler team must receive a minimum score of 70 points out of a possible perfect score of 100. We got qualifying score for both days! One more time with a different judge then Harry will get his RN title. He's the smallest dog in the ring by quite a bit! :-)
I need to get better at this... I got more points deducted than Harry did on both days. It's like a driving test, I need to know all the signs by heart. It's so much fun! I think more dogs, especially small dogs should give it a try!
Saturday: Rally-O Novice First Leg
Sunday: Rally-O Novice Second Leg

I was busy this weekend! I took pet photos for the Calgary Small & Toy Breed Play Group on Sat - it's for the Cochrane & Area Humane Society fundraising. We raised $423 with photo shoot and raffle! I'm so happy that we can contribute some help to those pets at the crowded shelter.
Here are the cute dogs' photos:

I got new puppies! They are not with me yet. They will be here in a week or two! I'm excited about my new dogs! Gerry sent me some photos of them.
Okay... They are not real dogs. :-) These are 3" needle felted Maltese dogs that look like Harry and CoCo! GOURMET FELTED created sculptures of my dogs. Gerry is a very talented needle felting artist!

Today was VERY interesting!
Chris and I walked to the Pet Fashion Week's trade show in the morning. Christine slept in so she missed the trade show. We met her for lunch at Jean-Georges in the Trump International Hotel and Tower - near the Columbus Circle. We all had the "Tastes of Summer" lunch menu - which was only $28/per person - what a great deal for a gourmet lunch! After a happy meal, we browsed around the mall at Columbus Circle. I bought a pair of Kenneth Cole with Nike air in the heel - they were on sale! Christine and I bought flip flops and then we went for a good walk in Central Park. By the way, Chris spotted a half naked blonde in the park - walking around offering photo opportunities for the tourists. No, we didn't take any photos with her. ;-)
After a long walk in the Central Park, we had some snacks (something like iced tea and pastry) at Le Pain Quotidien (near the Central Park) before we went to the Pet Fashion Week's runway show - we've waited for it since May!
Some photos of the Pet Fashion runway show:
After the Pet Fashion runway show, we hopped onto Christine's car and drove to the East Village for some take-out takoyaki before bedtime.

We are back! Chris, Harry and I were in Vancouver for a week - visiting family and friends. We drove. Correction: Chris drove us there and back. :-) I offered my help but he turned it down.
We had a great time with Harry. We spend most of the time with Harry when we were in Vancouver. He got to go to so many different places with us. He met many people and dogs. He even went to see Stephie's softball game. He was the lucky charm for her softball team - they started winning when we arrived and they ended up winning the tournament at the end of the day!
On the way home, we saw lots of animals near Highway 1 - a few black bears, 1 wolf, a moose, a couple of deer, a couple of mountain goats.

We were in Vancouver when Harry met Jasper for the first time! They were playing nicely together.
Jasper and Harry chased each other - Jasper was crawling pretty fast! Harry even didn't mind sharing his toy with Jasper (we didn't like Jasper put it in his mouth - of course). They had lots of fun together!

Momi is a 11 years young Pekingnese. He had a tough time trying to catch Harry in the back yard. Cady and the rest of us thought it was funny. :-)

Stephie's team started to play better when Harry arrived. They ended up winning the softball tournament. She thinks Harry is their lucky charm!
Amelie played with Harry in the Sunnyside Park, Surrey, BC. She adores Harry!

A few weeks ago, I saw an ad for http://www.seemypetcam.com/cameras in Dog Fancy. After I read all the reviews of it on Amazon, I bought a Panasonic Wireless 802.11 b/g Network Camera and Pet Cam (BL-C30A). Chris set it up on Tuesday night.
Since Wednesday, we’ve been able to see what Harry is up to during the day. :-) It streams live video over the Internet, so I can even see him on the road, using my iPhone (or N95 or any other phone with a browser) and internet connection. We love it!

Dear Friends,
CoCo passed away peacefully this morning around 10 AM MT. Chris,
Roy, Tiffany and I were there with him at his last visit to see Dr.
Pytka. CoCo is now with Sundog and many other friends in doggy
heaven. His favorite thing was to "go to bed". He was Roy's
sleeping buddy. They had great naps together. It looked almost
like CoCo was just sleeping there.
Honestly, it still hurts so much even though we did everything we
could think of to be prepared for this day!
CoCo was the most well behaved and understanding dog I've ever had.
He inspired me in so many ways. I developed his first web site for
him in 1994 when not many dogs, nor people, had their own web sites.
He had so many fans from all over the world. Because of him, we met
many kind people from different countries via email exchages and also
in person in different countries when we travelled or when they
travelled to see us!
We knew him as CoCo The Handsome Maltese, as he was famous for his
supermodel poses - he loved to pose for the camera. I had to learn
to take better photos to keep up with his supermodel ability.
He liked to dress up and go out. He loved everyone's attention.
When he was little I used to take him everywhere, including school,
movie theatres and restaurants. No one would know he was there. He
was so quiet and well behaved. When I took him to the office, no one
would know he was there until they saw him on my desk.
For the last 14 and half years, he loved everyone he met and earned
everyone's heart. We all miss him already!
Jessie

Harry's first day at the office was great! Everyone was impressed by
how well behaved and good looking he was! He wore his tie to show
that he was a serious worker. Then he went to sleep beside my desk,
just like CoCo taught him to do.
After work, we went to Puppy Gymnastics class for the first time. He
was the smallest puppy there. Even the pug was bigger! He must think
the Samoyed is a super giant, radioactive mutant Maltese. At home, he
wouldn't let us use the leash and collar to walk him. But he was
perfect walking on leash and collar in class! He walks very
gracefully, just like he's in the show ring.
We did five exercises tonight. The first was recall. Well, Harry was
pretty nervous and he wasn't going to walk across that great big gym
all by himself. If I wanted to see him that badly, I could very well
come to him. After all, it was me who walked away in the first place.
Second was walking over pipes laying on the floor. No problem!
Next, a wire mesh kennel was disassembled and laid out on the floor
like a grating. He had little or no trouble at all with that.
Fourth, the plank from a see-saw was put on the floor and Harry had to
walk the length of it. He refused on the first try, but then marched
right down it the next four times.
The last exercise was the agility tunnel, compressed to make it as
short as possible. Still, it's pretty scary, even for the big dogs!
He usually pauses in the middle, then builds up his courage and pops
out the far side. He made it through every time!
He's going to sleep well tonight.
Check out some photos of Harry's big day:

We are going to have a tea party for him on Saturday, Jan. 26th. :-)
He's a splendid little traveller! It was so adorable when he walked in the front door - he saw his reflection in the mirror and thought it was another puppy, so he started wagging! We were really glad CoCo was here to meet him so he wouldn't be disappointed.
He's been a little timid, taking his time getting used to his new home and family. He's not exactly sure about snow yet, that will take some more exploring. He's pretty comfortable on the couch, so we know he'll fit in! He was famished after his long journey and it didn't take long for him to begin displaying his English football skills with the tricky ball. I'll take some photos of that some other time.
We're taking the next two days off work to help him settle in. :-D

Dear Friends: Don't worry about us. CoCo has been diagnosed with cancer but that doesn't mean his life is immediately over! We'll continue helping him to keep up the quality of life until the last minute. He is still doing well for his age. The cancer has not spread. He is not in too much discomfort (other than a slightly upset tummy). His liver and kidneys are functioning well so he can eat anything he wants. We'll avoid fatty food since it may cause diarrhea.

We took CoCo to see Dr. Daniel Joffe at the C.A.R.E. Centre (in SE Calgary) this afternoon. CoCo was very well behaved. We placed him tummy-up in a U-shaped cushion. Chris and I gently held his forelegs while a technician held his hind legs. The technician put some warm gel on his tummy after Dr. Joffe shaved CoCo's tummy hair off. We talked to CoCo softly while Dr. Joffe used the ultrasound scanner on CoCo's tummy.
CoCo's organs looked pretty good. About 20 minutes into the scanning, we saw a mass that's growing outside the wall of CoCo's colon. Using the scanner to guide him, Dr. Joffe withdrew some sample cells from the mass using a hollow needle. We'll get the lab results by noon tomorrow.
CoCo had some soup and rice for dinner but he had a bit of diarrhea after midnight. We think it could due to stress.

CoCo has been not eating as well and sometimes he has loose stools. So, we took him to see Dr. Joanna Pytka for a geriatric panel this morning. He weights 4.7 lbs now, which means he's lost a whole pound.
Dr. Pytka called tonight. The report shows that CoCo has an infection and anemia (white blood cell count is too hight and red blood cell count is way too low and some other issues too). He's scheduled to see Dr. Daniel Joffe for an abdominal ultrasound on Wednesday, January 2nd at 4 pm MT. Don't worry about the bandages, they're just to make sure there isn't any swelling where Dr. Pytka drew blood for his tests.
